Japanese doll pillows

I know I committed myself to a fabric diet this year, but for Christmas I received a generous voucher at a local quilt shop – so that doesn’t count as a purchase, right?  😉   http://www.sewmanystitches.com.au/  Sew Many Stitches in Campbelltown, NSW 2560.

I came across this absolutely gorgeous Japanese doll fabric – Hello Tokyo by theredthread for Robert Kaufman (I could not quickly find the same panel online for purchase, however complementing fabric in the same range is available at http://www.fabric.com/SearchResults2.aspx?Source=Header&SearchText=hello+tokyo&CategoryID=1d5f47dc-9991-4088-93f3-26a376046a5e) .

I could not resist, immediately I had visions of a cute little dress for our daughter Miss H, as well as a couple of doll pillows for her and a few friends (yes, Miss B whose mum I think may be reading this, you are getting one of these!).  I had some spare time in my lunch break so I cut out the first one together with the hot pink  backing and hopefully it will be a quick and easy present to put together and stuff, voila, a little Japanese doll pillow!

I may or may not have also bought some of the other fabrics in the range to make some cutie pie girls’ clothes in the future – who can resist!

I mentioned an embroidery assessment earlier which is due very very soon – well I did start this a few months back, however I have decided that one thing that uninspired me so much with it was the fabric that was supplied in the kit, I really don’t like working with it.  So I’ll be raiding my embroidery fabric stash and starting all over again.  I’ll keep you posted.
